Therapies Offered:
Reflexology
- Reflexology is a deeply relaxing therapy suitable for all ages and every body. Based on the holograph principle that the part reflects the whole, reflexologists believe that every organ, muscle, gland & part of the body is reflected in areas on the feet, hands or ears and that gentle stimulation of these areas brings about a physiological change within the body. It is a gentle and non-invasive way to approach your health problems or to simply reduce stress and maintain good health.
Scientific research has proven that reflexology:
- dramatically improves circulation
- calms the nervous system
- stimulates lymphatic flow
- balances hormone function
- aleiviates stress
- stimulates our immunity
- stimulates our energy levels
- improves elimination of toxins.
These are just the general benefits, reflexology can be used to help address quite specific conditions and imbalances.
Foot Reflexology
- The most well known and widely used form of reflexology.Firm but gentle pressure is placed on various points on the feet which correspond to every organ, gland and part of the body. Relaxing massage and pressure techniques make this a powerfully healing and deeply relaxing therapy that can reduce stress, ease pain, stimulate sluggish conditions , calm overactive states - boosting and balancing every system in your body.
What you can expect from a treatment:
- After a detailed health history is recorded and you are made comfortable, your feet will be wrapped in warm, scented towels to prepare them for reflexology.Your feet (and so your whole body) are then soothed and revitalized with gentle pressure point therapy and specialized massage techniques. An hour of this treatment will give you a sense of relaxation deeper than you ever thought possible. A regular hour of this treatment will soothe, boost and balance every system until you are glowing with good health from the ground up.Karen Pike's clients have experienced this level of professional care for 18 years. Some come to relax, some come to enjoy the relief from their symptoms that they know reflexology can bring. (Initial session approx 1.5 – 2 hrs. Follow up sessions 1 – 1.5 hrs)
Hand Reflexology
- A soothing massage that works the whole body through the hands. Useful when there are conditions which prevent treatment of the feet or delicious as an addition to or a preferred alternative to foot reflexology. (approx 0.5-1 hr)
Combined Face and Ear Reflexology
- More than a facial- a treatment that soothes your entire body. Precious Rose and Chamomile essential oils and healing Rosehip oil are used in this luxurious therapy. Meridians of the face and over the entire head are balanced and energized. Crystal massage wands cool and revitalize the facial tissue. (approx 1 hr)
Auriculotherapy
- Recognized by the World Health Organization, Auriculotherapy or ear acupressure/reflexology works points on the ears to address specific health problems (especially effective for musculoskeletal problems and sporting injuries). Quick and effective this is an excellent stand alone therapy for those with little time or as a powerful adjunct to Foot Reflexology.
Ear Candling
- An ancient method of clearing and toning the auditory canals, eustachian tubes and sinuses. Candling is a very gentle and noninvasive therapy and is known to be effective in the treament of chronically blocked ears as well as tinnitus and migraine headaches. Calming and pleasant, candling will leave you feeling cleaner, lighter and more relaxed. Many experience improved hearing and clarity of thought. (approx 1hr 15mins)
Reiki
- One of the best known and most used forms of energy healing, Reiki has been widely used to work on all manner of physical, emotional and spiritual discomforts. As you relax comfortably, fully clothed, the reiki energy is sent to various organs and parts of the body clearing energetic blockages and bringing about balance at various subtle levels. This is achieved by the practitioner by gently laying the hands over the part of the body the reiki draws them to work on. You may or may not experience feelings of heat or cold, tingling or buzzing or a shift in the energy of the area as the practitioner moves from one area to another.
Indian Head Neck & Shoulder Massage
In a seated position and fully clothed your head, neck and shoulders are worked lightly and without oil. Not remedial, simply soothing this massage gently eases away neck and shoulder tension. (approx 30 mins).
- Combinations of the above therapies are also offered.
Frequently asked questions
Are you an accredited practitioner?
Yes I am registered with the Australian Traditional Medicine Society, the Reflexology Association of Australia, the International Council of Reflexologists. Can reflexology help my problem?
Reflexology can be used to effectively address most health conditions. Because it is a remote therapy (worked on the feet or hands rather than directly on the body) it is particularly useful when pain or discomfort prevents more direct work. How many treatments will I need?
Most conditions will respond after one session but it is unlikely that one session will fix anything. It is recommended that you have regular weekly sessions for a period of 4 to 6 weeks when you are addressing a health issue. After about 4 weeks you will know if reflexology is helping – if so continuing weekly, fortnightly or monthly sessions is recommended.
Reflexology is a therapy that is most effective when done regularly as it works on boosting, balancing and clearing every system of your body therefore it is suggested that you continue to have sessions on a regular basis (even just a few times a year) for optimum benefit.
Besides, once you have had regular reflexology it is hard to stop!Is reflexology covered by health funds?
